feel a storm coming...an ARTSTORM! [userpic]
help/input needed

just started this t-shirt.. so far its everything i am comfortable with artwise...i could crank out shirts like this all day long but i don't know if its saleable to a wide audience or even at all so i need any thoughts you might have about it
its not finished...i at least have to put something for the griffon to be looking at and i could add white highlights and use the airbrush on it to add shading or even to color it
i also want to put www.irononron on it but am terrible about the placement/size of things like that so your input would be greatly appreciated
should i put wwwironon.com as the thing hes looking at?(seems the simpleist thing to do to finish the design) or is that horribly yucky?
also what subject matter could you see being done in this style that would be appealing? pets? comic book characters?, dragons/monsters? portraits?
help me enough and i'll send you thankyou stuff! ;O)

and harpiegirl4 i haven't ignored your comment lj just won't let me reply to it...really frustrating

I'm really weak in the visual arts, so I really have no helpful input, I'm afraid. But I did want to comment on your icon, because I just finished re-watching the entire set of Twin Peaks episodes, and found a renewed terror of Bob! Every time I look at your icon now, I shudder. ;)

thats ok thanks for commenting all the same...i never watched twin peaks so i have no clue who bob is :O\ and on the spidy shirt the problem with marketing it is that i'm not sure if i can even sell one of those as fan art because its more a product than typical fan art cards or wall art and i don't want to have problems with cartoon copyright before i even get started....i am thinking that i might be able to get away with shirts in the vein of movie art for some reason :o0 *wanders off to wiki bob*

How about a moonlit tower off in the distance, with maybe a road and depiction of the countryside in between? I'm going by memory because I can't see the image at work and didn't have time to respond at home this morning.

DON'T have him looking at your website name unless you're deliberately designing this as a give-away or cheap "swag" shirt. You could get a lot of money for your work if you can do it in a few hours at a convention. People would love to have a custom design done for them that they could take home. I get lots of compliments when I wear the dwaggin shirt you made for me. :)

I'd put the website URL in very small lettering on the lower left-hand side of the image, under the griffin. OR maybe on the back with a second line under it that says "custom artwork" or something similar.

thankies xoD din't want to go whooly on the fantasy route with a tower as its been done so often but since i could just keep doing this griffon in different variations its something i should just get over....yah thats what i meant about yucky i know it would be wrong but i finally have an address i can put on stuff so i wanna shout it out even if the website is crap....that said i hate the previous shirt i did becase the dimensional paint caused me tho write the url so big.....and i'd rather not do it on the back because i feel i can charge more for 2 sided designs but not if its just for advertising....i should post my ren n stimpy shirt so you can see the stuff i used to/enjoyed doing

I agree with the above poster. I think it would be tacky to have him looking at your website address. Put it in small letters on the back of the shirt of down near the bottom of the design.Looks good though!

thankies :O) ya i just needed to ask about the url and then thought hey he could look at it...didn't think it through enough which is usually my main problem...left to my own devices i am a lazy artist but lets explore the tackyness further anyway....what about a lil flying creature holding the website url? ;OP

yeah, licensing might be an issue with the spidey shirt. I forgot about that.

Bob is the scary dude in your icon! That's funny that you don't know who he is. He's a demon/malicious spirit from the Black Lodge, who takes over the bodies of residents of Twin Peaks and makes them do awful, unspeakable things...

the icon is a pic of me i took with my first digital camera years ago, with a bunch of color manipulaion done to it... no bob at all in it...though i do know what you are talking about now cause i wiki-ed it and looked up some images ;O)

Wow! It makes you look just like Bob! Creepy! :)

maybe its bob that looks like me! *arches eyebrow*

heres the pic a lil larger

Okay, I am SO having nightmares tonight! ::shudder::

but...buut *sniffle* i'm a cutie ....everybody tells me so....are they lying to me? *cry*

Well, you're a cutie when you're not trying to look like Bob! ;)

ahh ok...i guess bob ruins everything :O9 well good luck with the job stuff and have fun riding tomorrow!
